The Good Guys head north for a weekend series beginning this afternoon with the 3rd place Jackrabbits. ORU looking for win #30 today and possibly wrapping up the Summit League regular season title by Sunday night with a winning weekend.....it would be nice to head to Omaha next weekend with no pressure....the Mavericks are also on the road this weekend at WIU.....we have a four game lead on them so a victory in the series opener tonight in Brookings would be huge.....:eagles:

It's currently raining and a chilly 39 degrees in Brookings, SD....but forecast calls for it to clear later today.....first pitch temps around 50.....ORU will be wearing the long sleeves today.....Cloudy and windy with 55 degrees tomorrow...but sunny and a balmy 65 on Sunday......

Lots of early scoring up at Brookings....SDSU took an early 3-1 lead in the first but ORU rallied with a 5 spot in the 2nd and now leads 6-4 in the 3rd inning....:eagles:

Game 2:

Jackrabbits plate 4 in the 9th to make it interesting, but with bases loaded, game ends on a pop-up double play. ORU holds on 7-6.

It got even more interesting right after the game ended:

'Don' is one of ORU's bus drivers, and from what Hax said on the broadcast he's 65 years old, and everyone has good things to say about him.  This sdsu fan/person got into it with him for some reason, and as Hax said in his tweet, he and some of the other ORU people there had to intervene, supposedly this sdsu fan/person had his arm cocked and was about to lay into Don.  Anyway, I don't know the whole story, but it certainly didn't sound good.  Guess Don really deserved it for someone to want to punch a 65-year old guy like him <obvious sarcasm>

Oh, and by the way, congratulations to ORU Baseball on the victory, which clinched the summit league regular-season title.

I just can't see why more fans don't take up the Dakotans offer to visit for postseason tournaments.

Yeah Boyyyy!!!....we will take that win today over the Jacks....six great innings by Bryce Howe and a 3 hit 4 RBI day for Brent Williams led the way....ORU now 30-16 overall and 19-6 in the Summit with a 5 game lead....only 5 to play so ORU's magic # to clinch is ONE......a victory tomorrow does it.....GO BLUE!!!!.....:eagles:

OOOOPSSS!!...TheEagleman wrote the above post last night and forgot to hit submit....lol.....anyway, Congrats to ORU baseball for another regular season Summit title which ensures that next years' tournament will be back at JLJ.....another nail biter in the 9th but Womacks got his 11th save thanks to Trent Shelton throwing out the tying run at the plate to end the game....wish we had some video of that........another excellent starting effort today from Nick Wood who notched his 5th win of the season.... So the next 5 games are basically just for pride but can also affect NCAA seeding should we get to the dance.....ORU now 31-16 overall and 20-6 in League play.....great job, Guys!......:eagles:

Sorry, Eagleman, don't have video, but ORU Baseball posted the audio clip of Hax on the double play to end the game:

Way to go, Hax!

Just one more reason to hate the bunnies.

Proud of the baseball team!

Wow!!...what a great way to end Saturday's game and clinch the Summit regular season title!!!.....thanks for posting!...and ORU finished off the sweep of SDSU with a 5-2 win earlier today.... Cale Tims got his team leading 6th win of the season and Noah Cummings goes 4-4 with 2 RBI.....Good Guys now 32-16 overall with OSU coming to JLJ on Tuesday night....might as well sweep the Pokes.....:eagles:

For the post season tournament at JLJ....ORU and Omaha are set as the #1 and #2 seeds....the remaining two spots are still up for grabs with SDSU still in 3rd place despite getting swept by ORU....the Jacks play at NDSU next weekend while WIU is at IPFW.....the Mastadons and the Leathernecks are currently tied for 4th so the team that can win 2 of 3 next weekend will make the tournament.....NDSU could knock out SDSU with a sweep...the Jacks can clinch a spot with 2 wins and would still likely get 4th even with one win over the Bison.......so ORU's first round opponent will not likely be decided until next Sunday.....

The Summit League website has a big article about the NDSU Bison winning the Ladies Softball title...but zilch about ORU clinching the Men's regular season baseball title.....hummmmmm......????....

They won their postseason tournament to send them to the NCAA tournament, while we just clinched the regular season title. Still odd. It's no secret that the Dakotas run the Summit at this point.

Wonder why ORU doesn't have a softball team?....you would think with Title IX we would field a squad.....I guess it comes down to $$$.....
