ORUalum
PC North's Speight follows big week with first D-I offer After last Friday night’s record-setting performance it seemed like things couldn’t get much better for Putnam City North point guard Micah Speight. Then came a Monday afternoon visit from Oral Roberts coaches, and subsequently, Speight’s first Division I scholarship offer. Speight posted the news on Twitter following practice, just a few days after he set eighth-ranked PC North’s single-game scoring record with 50 points in a rout of Ponca City last Friday. Not only did he score 50, Speight finished with a triple-double, including 13 steals and 11 assists to earn The Oklahoman’s Boys Basketball Player of the Week honor. The 5-foot-9 senior made 11 3-pointers in the process, helping PC North finish off a 17-7 regular season. Sent to the east area for the postseason, the Panthers open the Class 6A playoffs as a regional host against Bartlesville at 8 p.m. Friday.
