ORU at IUPUI

This is a big road test for the good guys. The Jaguars are 3-1 in the league with two road wins against South Dakota and WIU as well as defeating SDSU at home.

In conference play the Jags are shooting 45.5% (33.3% from 3-pt line) with a negative (-4.5) rebound margin. They average 12.5 turnovers per game. The statistics indicate that they win with defense.

We need to played disciplined team ball - and defend.

IUPUI started off 4-11 and got blown out in most of their losses...but the past 2 weeks have turned things around winning 3 of 4 including the road wins mentioned above at SD and SDSU which are both impressive....the only loss was at Summit unbeaten Omaha and only by 4 points.....so the Jaguars are coming on strong and ORU will need to play much better than we did last Saturday night to win at Indianapolis....let's face it, this is a huge road trip and we have to get at least one win this week and two would be even better....TheEagleman thinks Obi should be back near 100% tonight as he was obviously not himself vs. NDSU....and we need to get steady efforts from the supporting cast...it seems that most nights only one other guy seems to show up.....it would be interesting to see how this team fares if we actually got production from Conley, Bradley, Owens, Martin, Jeffries, etc all in the same game.....I am gonna stick my neck out here and while it's surely a stretch, I think ORU puts together a solid effort tonight. But the real key is that Coach Sutton has promised to wear his lucky plaid jacket again.....that should push us over the top.....Obi gets 25+ combined with double digit points from Martin and Owens and maybe even Bradley....ORU finds a way with a 78-74 win over IUPUI.....;)

If we can get these next two on the road, and back to 3-3 in the conference, then we have the next 3 at home...we could get back into this thing pretty quick!

The Jags are led by Combs (6'2" - Jr.) who averages 16.8 ppg in league play on 41.8% FG% (52.6% from 3-pt. IUPUI has six other scoring contributors who average between 10.3 and 6.8 points per game. They start two seniors, two juniors and freshman - with two sophomores and a junior off the bench.

The Jags are playing well in conference and this will be a tough game. If you have watched college basketball over the last few weeks, winning on the road in league play is very difficult.

Yes, Terry...any win on the road in Summit play will not be easy this season....this ain't the old Summit where you could count on winning at IPFW, WIU, UMKC, SUU and USD....the Jags are a 2.5 point favorite....this is probably a good night just to sit out....TheEagleman has no idea which ORU team will show up....

ORU dominates the 2nd half and pulls away for an 80-71 victory at IUPUI....Martin leads with 18.....Jeffries 17...Obi 16.......despite 17 turnovers we crushed them on the boards by 39-25 and shoot 10-15 from three......big win for ORU....the D is back....but it was the Sutton plaid sport coat that did the trick!....:D

I hope this league gets better refs than we had tonight. It seemed they wanted Obi out of there. However, the team picked up the slack and played great. Their color play by play was very impressed with ORU and said they would not want them in the tournament. Congrats to a great team effort. The coaching closed the middle and that helped greatly on defense.

Loved the comment from Hax about the new freshman that is going to be available next year.

Western Illinois has lost 6 in a row including one at home tonight vs. Denver.....ORU with an excellent chance to get to .500 in the Summit if we play like we did tonight at WIU on Saturday....then we come back to the friendly confines of Mabee Center for three games.....GO BLUE!....B)

Nothing would surprise me tonight.

Nothing.

Double-digit rebounding advantage??

Now, that IS surprising!! :o

Great win. And It's on to Macomb, and perhaps the only arena in America named after a garbage company.

Eagleman...always trust the voice!

Yes...the first 4 fouls on Obi were "questionable" at best.

SO happy to see Albert pass out of the post a few times and also Obi making the extra pass a couple of times. Going inside-out and having Obi shot fake and kick on occasion, really makes this a dangerous team.
