ORU at Omaha: Track Meet?

Anybody know a bookie?

Frankly, I wouldn't touch the -2.5 that ORU is favored by on Thursday morning, but I LOVE the "over" of 160 points. Current VegasInsider.com Odds

The two teams combined for 188 points last month in the Mabee Center (102-86).  That was a whopping 36 points over the 152-point total that Vegas posted for the game.

Plus, not only has Omaha gone "over" in 7 of their last 13 games, but ORU has been "over" a whopping 11-of-13 during that same stretch (which may indicate Vegas has not caught up to the fact that this isn't a typical ORU-under-Scott-Sutton defensive team this year).

Of course, I am not advocating illegal betting or anything like that - I just think that would be a pretty solid investment for those who are so inclined... 8)

You forget the cardinal rule of gambling...if a bet looks too easy, take the other side.

Give me ORU (-2.5) and the under. :nerd:

You're on, for a burger on each...

TheEagleman is inclined to take the OVER and ORU......but I will have to give it more thought....despite our poor performance last Saturday I think we come back and win this one.....we surely must win if we hope to get a split on this road trip....let's call it 88-81 for the Good Guys!..... :nerd:

game should not have been that close, but great job by Coach Sutton down the stretch.

-bailed out Harris w/a TO

-fouled up 3

-inserted Webber who immediately knocked down 2 FTs

for a good FT shooter, Obi's last minute FT shooting is pretty bad.

...celebrate all wins.

THAT'S.

WHY.

I.

DON'T.

BET.

Are you freaking kidding me? I'm looking at one of the greasiest of backdoor covers with Obi on the line with :01 to go and the total at 159....AND HE FREAKING MISSES BOTH FREAKING FREE THROWS??

That's hilarious!

Congratulations, Voice, on your resounding victory!!

But in all seriousness, nice road win for the guys on Senior Night in Omaha.

....even if they did cover the spread on my other didn't-really-want-to-do-it-but-had-to-hedge-it bet against ORU by A FREAKING HALF POINT!

TheEagleman passed on betting the game.....this team just isn't worth taking a shot on especially on the road.....but yes....a win is a win.....28 for Obi in the 81-78 victory.....now on to Brookings for what likely will be a sound beating at the hands of the Jacks....

Oh, ye of little faith!

SDSU is not unbeatable. ORU would need great games from Obi, AND Kory, AND Denell to pull it off, but nothing's impossible.

Just hope ORU double teams their big guy down in the post this game. Not doing so was a serious mistake first time around.

Mmmm. Voice is hungry!

Can I eat two burgers today or should I spread them out?!? :*

Your choice!

Burgers do sound good on a chilly Friday - let me know!

Oh, yeah - about the game:  did you see what Scott chose to do leading by 3 with :05 left in the game?

He chose to FOUL and put them on the line for 2 free throws, instead of risking the tying 3.

It worked (because it almost always works), even though their guy hit the two FT's to cut it to a 1-point game:  they fouled Adrian with :03 to go, he made both free throws, then they threw the inbounds pass away to Obi, who got fouled with :01 on the clock.  Even though Obi missed both FT's, ORU still won by three.

Kind of a crazy last five seconds, but it sure beat Omaha hitting a 3 to send the game into overtime...well played by the staff.

Well...let's pray that Denell wakes up on time Saturday and gets to the arena with the rest of the team....ORU will need him to have a shot at beating SDSU.....that's a really tough place to play....TheEagleman thinks that the Jacks will be at least a 5-6 point favorite and I would be inclined to take the home team..... :nerd:

SDSU's home conference average margin of victory is 21.5. The Jacks have beat every Summit foe in Frost by at least 10 points. Not saying that it will be impossible but it will be a very tall task. There should be a big crowd with the SDSU/USD women playing before the ORU/SDSU men's game. It should be a great game. I'm looking forward to seeing ORU back in Brookings.

I also heard Geoff say that Rob Marshall was in the house, AND he had a tweet, I believe, from none other than Mike Minyard who hopes ORU makes it to the NCAA Tourney and plays in MM's new territory!
