ORUTerry
This is an important tune up game before our first conference game on Friday against North Dakota State. The Titans have a similar record (6-7) to ORU with success at home and not so much on the road. They shoot the ball better than we do (who doesn't?) and take more three point shots than we do. They appear to be an average/below average rebounding team. Here is a statistical comparison from StatSheet.com
ORUTerry
The Titans play nine players (+13.5 minutes or more per game). Their top seven players are: Howard (Juwan, Jr.) - 6'3" (Sr): 18.9 ppg (43.1% fg%) and 36.% from the 3-point line (22 of 61) along with 4.5 rpg Wilson - 6'5" (Jr): 10.3 ppg (50.6% FG%) and 45.8% from the 3-point line (27 of 59) along with 3.3 rpg Grant - 6'0" (So): 5.6 ppg (39.0% FG%) and 34.5% from the 3-point line (10 of 29) with 3.5 rpg Bass - 6'7" (Fr): 11.4 ppg (41.4% FG%) and 30.0% from the 3-point line (9/30) with 6.2 rpg Kearney - 6'6" (Sr): 7.6 ppg (47.3% FG%) and 40.6% from the 3-point line (13/32) with 2.4 rpg Williams - 6'1" (So): 4.5 ppg (31.1% FG%) and 29.4% from the 3-point line (5/17) with 2.7 rpg Ackerman - 6'10" (Jr): 2.6 ppg (55.6% FG%) and 1.8 rpg (he is listed at 218 lbs - which seems low for someone his height)
ORUTerry
Detroit has lost its last four games (Wichita State, UCF, Rhode Island and Arizona State). The only blow out was against AZ State on the road. The Titans can shoot the ball so we have to guard the perimeter. They do not have a lot of size, so we match up with them pretty good. Their star is Howard, although they have other options. We need to find our shooting touch on the road.

theeagleman5
This is another winnable road game for ORU....problem is that we have played poorly on the road this season with only one neutral site win in Vegas over Milwaukee which is having a rough season.....so TheEagleman isn't very hopeful for tonight.....again, we must have big efforts by Emegano and Billbury to have a chance....any word on Henderson?...was he sick or injured on Sunday vs. Haskell?....we surely will need his inside presence tonight in Detroit.....I think unfortunately we will finish 2014 at 5-8 as Detroit ends their four game losing streak with a 74-66 win over ORU..... theeagleman5
Detroit is a 4 point favorite on the Vegas line.....TheEagleman is liking the Titans at home tonight....a lot.....
ORUalum
good first half for ORU....of course it's been the second half that has been the problem on the road.
ORUTerry
Brutal ending to regulation. On to overtime.
ORUalum
you can't make this stuff up. why is conley even touching the ball in obvious foul situations? and then once again ORU does not foul up 3 and under 10 seconds. Sutton has to call TO after Conley's first FT to run down all situations with the team following the second attempt. they are going to have to find a way to win in overtime. ORUalum
Obi and Korey were phenomenal....
Old Titan
GREAT free throw shooting down the stretch. But, with the exception of Korey's three that broke the tie late in OT and gave ORU a lead they never relinquished, everything else - and I mean EVERYTHING else - was terrible the last 4:00 of regulation and the entire overtime. Take the "W", count it all joy, and move on down the road...
ORUTerry
Celebrate all wins. Would have been a tough, tough loss.
theeagleman5
TheEagleman will take that win but geez....horrific decisions in the final minutes of regulation....agree with the comment about why does Conley even have the ball in the final seconds of regulation...are you kidding me?....I was happy he made at least one FT....but those two bombs by Detroit at the end of regulation are just inexcusable....the first one was a prayer but HOW does Sutton explain not fouling with a 3 point lead and under five seconds to play....just dumb.....I have been doubting our coaching a lot this season but almost blowing this game after leading the entire 2nd half just infuriated me.....and our defense in the final moments of games is just no existant....oh well....we don't win much on the road and our play in OT showed a lot of guts and resiliance that ORU hasn't had this season.....Obi gets 31 (career high) and Billbury 22....and we still barely won....amazing.....now that's the REAL Obi Emegano..... ORUTerry
Good thing that Emegano and Billbury showed up for us last night. Here are their stat lines: Emegano: 44 minutes with 31 points (9 of 15/ 3 of 4 from the 3-point line); 5 rebounds with 4 turnovers and 1 assist. He was 10 of 12 from the FT line Billbury: 42 minutes with 22 points (4 of 10/ 2 of 4 from the 3-point line); 6 rebounds with 5 turnovers and 0 assists; He was 12 of 13 from the FT line The next highest scorer was Word with 11 points. He played 26 minutes and was 2 of 4 from the field (1 of 3 from the 3-point line) and 6 of 6 with FT's Our big guys combined to score 7 points and grab 14 rebounds. Henderson fouled out after just 16 minutes; he scored 2 points (1 of 2) and grabbed 2 rebounds. Conley scored 1 point (0 for 3 with 1 of 3 from the FT line) in 29 minutes - and grabbed 5 rebounds. He only had 2 personal fouls. Owens played 12 minutes and scored 4 points (2 of 5) with 7 rebounds and 1 personal foul. Henderson and Conley both had 3 turnovers while Owens had zero. The key to the game appears to have been free throws. ORU shot 33 of 40 while Detroit shot just 5 of 12. ORU had too many (19) turnovers but shot decently (41.3%) and better from behind the 3-point line (40.%) and charity stripe (82.5%)
ORUJason
I agree with everything you said Terry except that shooting 41.3% is not decent. I bet it is rare that a team that shoots that poorly actually wins a game. Our % is low because our leading scorers are guards. However the improved FT % is a good sign.
