Haskell at ORU

As expected the ORU Golden Eagles pummeled Haskell at Mabee Center today, 94-42.....sounds like Coach Sutton took no pity on the visitors playing all the starters at least 20 minutes but at least he gave ten players double digit minutes so there was some mercy shown....Obi must have been back to near normal leading the Good Guys with 22... Billbury with a big double double of 20 points and 17 rebounds.....quite a performance by Korey....Conley and Word also in double figures with 12 and 11 respectively.....ORU is now 5-7 and maintains the undefeated record at home (4-0)......so now we travel to Detroit for a game on Tuesday night then to NDSU on Friday evening for the Summit League opener........TheEagleman has to say that despite the up and down performances over the past six weeks this is about where most of us thought that ORU would be heading into the new year....I felt that we would likely get five wins prior to Jan 1.....so we now have a shot at #6 on Tuesday in Detroit....the Titans have lost four in a row but are not playing bad basketball...their schedule is pretty rugged.....still, this is another winnable road game for ORU.....depends on which team decides to show up.....  :nerd:

Lee, like Harris, was virtually non-existent against Haskell, recording four rebounds and three assists. The redshirt freshman from Clarksville, Arkansas, only put up one shot attempt and he missed it.
Lee's points-per-game average slipped to 0.4 through 12 games, and he has made only one field goal this season. Harris' scoring average now sits at 1.8 per contest, and he's shooting 20 percent (5 of 25) from the floor in 12 games.
"We have to be able to get some guys to step up and take some pressure off of Obi (Emegano) and Korey (Billbury)," Sutton said. "The 3-point shot is such a huge momentum play, just like a dunk or a fast-break layup.
"We're not a great shooting team, and those guys are capable. They just have to be more consistent."

the problem is that they have been consistent.  those numbers don't lie.  let's hope something clicks in the second semester.  Coach Sutton keeps saying they are good shooters, but it has yet to show when the bright lights come on.

Wilson update
It was announced that ORU forward Drew Wilson III wasn't with the Golden Eagles following back-to-back home wins over Missouri State and New Mexico State.
Wilson still isn't with ORU nearly a month later.
Sutton said following the Haskell game that Wilson "would not travel with the team" to road contests at Detroit on Tuesday and North Dakota State on Friday.

will we ever see Drew Wilson suit up for ORU again?  i sure hope so.
