New Mexico State at ORU

The Aggies come to Mabee Center for what TheEagleman believes is the first time.....they are a decent team with a lot of size....four guys 6-8 or taller....they have very balanced scoring with four players averaging double figures.....this will be a tough test as Coach Sutton has stated....but NM State is winless on the road(4-5 overall) and the Golden Eagles are well rested....this is a big game for us and ORU needs to get back on the winning track having not won since before Thanksgiving.....we need a victory and will find a way to get one....gotta have big games from Billbury and Obi and some contributions inside from Henderson, Conley and Webber.......can we have a Bobby Word sighting, please?.....not sure but maybe he has been hurt?.....so, TheEagleman will go out on a limb here and predict ORU wins a back and forth game 75-70 to start off the 3 games in 4 night stretch.....a loss would really hurt here....ORU really needs to get back to the .500 mark before going to Norman on Tuesday.....otherwise it's going to be a loooooong December....GO BLUE!!!...

TheEagleman likes some of that action....might grab ORU only giving up a point....I think the Good Guys will defend the home court tonight.....they have to have been chewing on that brutal loss at Weber State for the past 12 days.......... :nerd:

Two NMSU players are sitting out the game (Mullings and Tshildzi). The Tulsa World does not say why. It has been a long (17 days) since our last game that we could be a bit rusty. Let's hope not.

ORU down 36-32 at half after being ahead until the final minute....we need a big start in the first five minutes of the 2nd half....

Both teams playing good defense. ORU is a bit sluggish on offense and sloppy with the ball. Typical after a long layover. Lots of roster combinations in the first half - which probably contributed to ORU being a bit off on offense. Expect Sutton is trying to rest players as much as possible given the three games in four days. Their length is also bothering us.

Henderson has looked good so far.

the guy doing play by play on ESPN3 is pretty good...first time seeing him call an ORU game.

turnovers are killing ORU.

Nice win tonight - great shooting percentage and decent defense against a very LONG team.  And, we virtually eliminated the turnovers in the second half.  Wish we had hit more FTs down the stretch to put the game away earlier, but you can't get EVERYTHING you want.

While the play-by-play guy had a decent pace to his call, his continuous mispronunciation of Obi's last name and renaming of Denell Henderson as "Darnell" drove me crazy.  Manzer did another solid job as color man - and kept emphasizing "Uh-MEG-an-oh", but Mr. play-by-play never got the hint.  We should expect more from a home-produced broadcast.

Nonetheless, BIG win which will certainly raise our RPI and some eyebrows.   And, our third win against a 2014 NCAA tourney team.
