ORU vs. Missouri State

I am sure the players and coaches are glad to get back and play a game in the Mabee Center. Classes are ending Friday (today) and finals begin Saturday through the next week. This (and the Sunday afternoon start) will provide a bit of a distraction.

A look at the Bear's roster and statistics through the first seven games shows that they shoot a lot of three pointers (36% of their total shots) and make 37.2% of them. They have a 44.1% overall shooting percentage. MSU plays a lot of guys with nine players averaging over 13 minutes per game. They are not a tall team - with only two players taller than 6'6": (Kirk - 6'8" senior averaging 14.6 minutes with 3.9 ppg and 3.1 rpg and McCullough - 6'11" sophomore averaging 13.3 minutes with 3.9 ppg and 2.0 rpg.) Their guards/forward grab most of their rebounds - sound familiar?

The Bears defeated UALR 73-68 at home last night to get to 4-3.....their lone win in the recent Alaskan Shootout was vs. the host team.....they lost a close one against Washington State last week in that tournament......TheEagleman doesn't have a good feel for this Sunday afternoon.....depends on which ORU team decides to show up....the one who beat TU and Milwaukee or the one who lost to ULL or Oregon State....what kind of crowd with they get at Mabee Center on a Sunday afternoon in December????.... :nerd:

I'm guessing this game was moved from potential Saturday afternoon/night tip due to Oklahoma-Oklahoma State football on same date:  no way to know exactly what time the Bedlam match-up would be played until TV guys decide one week before, and back in the summer when ORU was making the decision, it may have been thought that OU could be undefeated on this date and playing for a Big XII title and inclusion in the College Football Playoff.

So, to answer your question, the crowd will probably be no worse on Sunday than if it had been played opposite OU-OSU on Saturday.

TheEagleman is watching the Bedlam Game right now....looks like OU on their way to a rousing victory up 14 at half....and I also watched Union-Jenks 6A Championship game which was shown this morning....good game...congrats to Jenks.....this ORU-MSU game should be a dandy....the teams are evenly matched....the Bears have a couple of big guys (6-11 and 6-9) who see some decent minutes per game so we will need our front court to step up under the basket....most of the Bears' points come from the backcourt so they are similar to ORU in that area also....the Good Guys should be well rested after that brutal 15 day road trip....hopefully they have been practicing their FTs this week because this game just may come down to that....TheEagleman as stated above is very worried about this one but we can probably expect these two teams to split their two December match ups....so I will say that ORU will pull this one out late.....Billbury and Obi as usual will need to get their 35-40 total point for ORU to have a chance to win.....we need another couple guys to chip in again...Word?....Webber?....Henderson?......this one could even go overtime but ORU pulls away late with an 80-73 victory.....Go Blue!.... :nerd:

why in the world did Stoops re-kick to Hill?  should have declined the penalty....smh.

Big Game Bob came up very small today.

on a related note: Joey Harrington has to be the worst color-commentator in the history of broadcast sports.

Try listening to Mike Golic call an NFL game. He lasted one game and was fired. It was brutal.

Widespread power outage affecting entire campus, CitiPlex, plus retail and residential areas around 81st & Delaware (between Lewis and Harvard).

Conflicting reports about when it may be back up and running.

Can't imagine it was ORU's idea to postpone game if power not back on by 4:00pm, but I'm guessing it could have something to do with referees' travel plans to their Monday night gigs, not Missouri State reticence.  With this being an afternoon game, refs may have planned to fly out tonight.

Stay tuned...

ORU playing hardball w/ Mo St?

If a reschedule date can't be agreed upon, #orumbb coaches said there's a chance that the return trip to Springfield could be nixed.
