ORU GRAD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zuJJteJP5Q Watching some history of great ORU Basketball. Remember the Rainmaker Robert Jarvis? That is what we need. Could we get another year of this 3 point shooter? Pumped up for the season to start.
oruvoice
Isn't the Creighton transfer (Darian Harris) supposed to be a 'shooter'? Also, don't forget Bobby Word...
theeagleman5
Yeah....even TheEagleman forgets about Bobby Word....the kid showed some shooting ability last season....looking forward to more of that during the coming campaign....ORU might need some 3 point activity since we don't seem to have a real serious threat from in the paint.... TrueBlue82
And, what about Dederick Lee? I thought he had a pretty solid 3pt shooting percentage in High School.
ORUJason
I'm hoping for good things from Dederick Lee and Darian Harris. Jarvis could shoot the 3, and he could also drive to the hole. However, sometimes he would get his shot blocked because he drove against someone much taller than him. Also, his defense left something to be desired at times, but he could shoot the 3. He could also fire up the team and was an emotional leader on the floor. I think Bilbury may fill that role for the team this year and I wouldn't mind seeing Bilbury play more point this year if Dederick and Bobby could handle the SG duties. We could have a little bit of a logjam at the guard spots this year.
ORUalum
looked up the numbers. that was a good shooting night from a below average 3 pt shooting team. they finished the season shooting .319 from 3 and Jarvis saw his average drop from .409 to .335. the '07-'08 team (Jarvis junior year) shot .369 as a team from 3. last year ORU shot .351 from 3. excited to see if ORU has the right players to help Obi and Korey....need a distributor, a rebounder, a lock down defender, and a 3 pt specialist. Coach Sutton's best teams had really good role players to compliment the stars.
theeagleman5
TheEagleman is excited to see what Dederick Lee can do on the court.....has anyone seen him in action recently during player scrimmages?...just wondering if his body has been bulked up?.....ORU really needs some contribution from Lee this season.... ORU GRAD
My goal was not to be negative about our current players but to just hope some of the players would get excited about the way Jarvis's team played. Don't forget his stepback shot in the MidCon tournament here in Tulsa to nail down the victory and go to the NCAA. We have had some really good teams in the past including a 27 win season with Domo. The last couple of years have been down but I am expecting great things from this team. When I saw this I just couln't help but share it. Great Memories. theeagleman5
TheEagleman watched the video above then clicked on links and watched the end of ORU-Kansas in 2006 and ORU-Oregon 1977 NIT game in 1977 again....those were the days.....was there ever a better player in an ORU uniform than Anthony Roberts?.....I think not.....
