theeagleman5
HUGE series this weekend in Corpus Christi....we have nine teams in the Southland within 3 games of each other....the tied for first Islanders are riding a five game winning streak and are 12-6 in conference and 23-19 overall.....ORU is currently 9th and out of playoff position but playing their best baseball of the season late in April....the Golden Eagles have won 5 of their last 6 Southland games and coming off an exciting win at home vs. top ten OSU.....current record is 22-18 overall and 9-9 in the Southland....we really need to build on that momentum with the next 6 conference games on the road (at UCA next weekend)....ORU must at least split the next 6 games to stay in playoff contention.....getting 4 of 6 would be awesome and anything more totally outstanding.....with all these teams so tightly bunched every win is precious and getting 2 of 3 vs. the Islanders would really be important.....let's hope that Trevino, Boss and Company stay hot.....GO BLUE!!!..... TrueBlue82
And, unfortunately, the remaining schedule is NOT favorable to ORU. Most of the competition for the playoff spots still have a series remaining with woeful New Orleans, which gives them the opportunity for a likely sweep. While three weeks away on the final weekend of the regular season, I would not be at all surprised if it comes down to this - the winner of the ORU-Lamar series at JLJ advances to the tourney in Conway and the loser's season is done. theeagleman5
Yeah, it's gonna be tough but ORU just needs to keep winning series'.....if we can get 2 of 3 for the next four weekends then ORU will get in.....go 8-4 and we will be in the post season....I highly doubt that 6-6 would make it....and 7-5 might be borderline or a tie breaker scenerio.....a win tonight in the opener at Corpus Christi would be a great start!..... ORUJason
This team is playing well enough right now that I expect them to make a nice run in conference over the next few weeks.
theeagleman5
ORU drops the opener at Corpus Christi 7-2.....not a good start but the Good Guys can come back tomorrow....Go Blue!....
ORUalum
baseball is a funny game....from 15 runs againt the number nine team in the country to barely getting 2 across the plate against TAMCC. ORU has to bounce back and get these next two.
theeagleman5
Well.....we didn't do it again tonight.....again the bats go silent and ORU drops a 4-1 decision to the Islanders......a win tomorrow is just about mandatory.....
ORUalum
well....the bats woke up in a big way!!!!!
theeagleman5
Today's 10 run rule win at Texas A&M-CC pretty much saves the season for ORU....Good Guys win going away, 17-6 thanks to a 5 RBI/3 hit game for Tyler Boss and 5 hits by Anthony Sequeira....who would have thought ORU gets 17 runs without an RBI from Jose Trevino....Pepe Gomez gets the win hanging in there despite giving up 6 runs.....ORU now 23-20 overall and 10-11 in the Southland tied for 8th with UCA.....huge series vs, Central Arkansas in Conway next weekend were ORU really needs to get 2 of 3.....GO BLUE!..... TrueBlue82
Next weekend's series is huge, but it is unlikely that ORU will end up higher or tied in the standings with Central Arkansas unless we sweep them in Conway. UCA ends the season with series against 5-10 ICW and 2-19 UNO. It is probable that the team left out will be either SeLa, Lamar, or ORU, and we're currently two games behind both of the others "at risk". Sure would be a great time for a 10 game conference win streak!
