theeagleman5
Big series starts tonight at JLJ....ORU really could use a sweep but 2 of 3 at home is mandatory if we want to stay in one of the top 8 Southland spots....The Huskies are 16-17 overall and just behind us in the Southland at 6-9....so it's must wins for them also....HBU beat TCU 13-0 just the other night so they aren't pushovers.....Go Blue!..... ORUalum
5-5 headed to the bottom of the ninth. blown save for Romano as HBU plates 3 in the top of the ninth. ORU has to find someone to pitch the 8th..they can't keep asking Romano to pick up multi-inning saves.

TrueBlue82
Ugly game, but it says something about the character of this team to find a way to win even when they're playing poorly.
ORUJason
Yes this was an important win. Leading up to the winning run, according to Geoff Haxton, the HBU pitcher was trying to intentionally walk the ORU hitter. On his second pitch he threw high and it was almost a wild pitch. On the third pitch he threw low and the catcher had to prevent a wild pitch again. Then on the fourth ball he threw a wild pitch which allowed our runner to advance to 3rd base. Then that runner, McIntyre I believe, scored the winning run. I have never heard of someone throwing a wild pitch on an intentional walk. theeagleman5
There was a wild pitch on an intentional walk in the majors just a few years ago as I recall....can't remember who the pitcher was but it has happened.....Big win for ORU last night....a loss really would have been devastating...every Southland game is important now as we are 8-8 in conference and still hanging on to one of the top 8 spots....we really need to sweep HBU this weekend to take some of the pressure off and also our next 6 conference games are on the road after this series.......Let's go get another one tonight on this GOOD FRIDAY....Go BLUE!!!... theeagleman5
Another big win for ORU today over HBU.....McDavid with 4 1/2 outstanding innings of 2 hit relief to get the win....3 hits each by Boss and Afenir....a solo HR by Trevino his 6th.....yeah, a sweep would be lovely tomorrow and help us to keep pace because all the teams above us keep winning....ORU still tied for the 8th and final playoff spot with Lamar and UCA....TheEagleman enjoyed a great day of baseball as I headed over to NJ today with my two grandsons to watch Niagara U. play at Rider U....an entertaining MAAC contest won by the visiting Purple Eagles, 7-6..... ORUalum
tough loss for the good guys.....11-10 currently sitting 9th in the league standings. L: Romano HR: Trevino
theeagleman5
That is a really tough loss for ORU today after rallying from 6 runs down to tie it on a Trevino HR in the 8th and send the game to extra innings....but our pitching staff let us down today giving up 20 hits.....not gonna win too many games with those kinds of numbers....so now ORU falls to 9th in the standings at 9-9 in the Southland....the next 6 league games are on the road starting with a huge series at Texas A&M-CC next Friday....
