ORUalum
well....i guess i'll start it this year. this one does not affect ORU anymore, but interesting: Source: Southeastern Louisiana fires coach Jim Yarbrough South Dakota and IUPUI from the Summit have already dispatched both of their coaches. It will be interesting to see if anyone comes after the NDSU coach.

darrenj
Nothing big so far as Auburn is a terrible job and Rice is a very tough job also.
ORUTerry
I have to think that Saul Phillips at NDSU is going to be a candidate for attractive job openings.
theeagleman5
Wonder if someone big comes after Greg Marshall this year.....also Danny Manning?....
ORUTerry
Manning should attract some interest given his pedigree and the job he has done this year. It will take a big job to attract Marshall away from WSU. He is making big bucks and he RULES Wichita. He doesn't have to share the spot light with anyone there - unless you count Bill Self at KU. And he has Wichita State ranked and in the NCAA Tournament as a #1 seed.
ORUalum
i saw someone on ESPN say that "with Larry Brown, Roy Williams, and Bill Self all willing to pick up a phone for Manning, he will get interest from high majors." the thing that has impressed me is that after a combination of defections/injuries/suspensions both seasons at TU, his teams have gotten better as the season has gone on. darrenj
If Marshall left Wichita St i think Manning would be highly interested in that job. Lot more $$ and much easier conference to win. They are in for a rude awakening next year as that new conference will be very tough and they will get lucky to win half of thier games. He better strike while the iron is hot if he wants a better job.
darrenj
It will take a big job to get Marshall to leave Wichita st. as that is a great job. He makes great $$ and literally gets anything he wants as far as facilities and recruiting budget. He has a private plane to go see recruits. What other mid major has that! Plus they are the big dog in that conference now that Creighton left. Sells out every game and the fans love him. Tough to beat.
Old Titan
Whether they want out or not, Manning and Marshall may be stuck right where they are: there just aren't going to be a lot of job openings in the Big Five conferences this year, unless some big-name coach heads to the pros and sets off a domino effect. I'm just wondering how much Manning makes right now, and how much more TU is willing to pay him, especially if they realize that A.) he wants to leave, and B.) he has no place better to go this year, and C.) he doesn't need the money. In other words, if you're the AD at TU, do you give a performance raise to a guy if you know he has one foot out the door? Especially a guy who banked $50 million in his previous gig? ORUalum
Bruce Pearl is hired by Auburn He was given a three-year show-cause penalty, which can be a death sentence for a basketball coach’s career, that expires in August. One important note: Pearl will be allowed to be out recruiting during the all-important July evaluation period, which should help him jump start his Auburn tenure. Perhaps the best nugget of info from this hire is that the lead investigator for the NCAA on Pearl’s case is now working in the compliance office at Auburn. darrenj
Yep not very many high profile jobs out there. I think Manning is making in the $600,000 range and will ask for over $1.2 million as far as a raise which probably puts him in the bottom portion of the new league they are joining. He doesn't need the $$ so maybe he would take less. They should be pretty good next year with everyone back and a couple of nice players coming in but that is a big step up in competition as far as scheduling. So say they win 15 games next year where is his leverage to get a raise after that season? Or if he has 2 or 3 seasons at the 15 wins his name would start to fade from being the hot young coach. It will be interesting as i just don't see a job out there that Marshall would take and he isn't taking a job like Auburn or Virginia Tech. He has the best mid major job out there right now. He is waiting for a Indiana or Texas or that type of job.
theeagleman5
If I were Gregg Marshall I would sign a 10 yr deal with Wichita State and never leave unless they screw me for some reason....I talk to business contacts in the Wichita area and the man is a god there.....he probably never has to pay for a meal or a drink in addition to his nice salary....what a great gig....cost of living can't be that high in Kansas and he can keep on winning the MVC.....how much money does a guy need anyway...he's got a dream job....hey....didn't Scott Sutton turn that one down a few years ago....I am guessing that the Shocker faithful are glad he did.... darrenj
Eagle, I think he makes over $2 million at Wichita and you are right that he gets anything he ask for. I mean seriously he can get done with a game and hop on the private jet and go see a recruit. It is a better job than Butler and VCU which is who they are compared to. They have an unlimited recruiting budget and the big man in the room Koch who is their main booster and provider. You arent getting that any other mid major. He just produces incredibly tough teams and players. They do play angry and with a chip on their shoulder. They will play anybody but dont let bigger schools bully them into 2 for 1 series as they are past that now. I will be rooting them on and hope they make at least the sweet 16. Yes, Scott turned down that job a few years ago and has been very loyal to ORU.
theeagleman5
TheEagleman enjoys watching WSU play but will be surprised if they make it to the Final Four this time...that's a tough bracket the midwest....

Old Titan
Andy Katz tweeted today that he feels NDSU's Saul Phillips should be Washington State's first choice.
tmh8286
If Phillips leaves it'll be hard on the Bison faithful. They've come to really love their coach.
