Here is a comparison of the two teams from StatSheet.com.

We lost to the Cowboys at their place 68 to 79 on February 1st. Here is the boxscore from that game. They destroyed us on the boards (48 to 24) and shot 40 free throws - making 30. Glover fouled out (played 27 minutes) and only scored 13 points. Their gameplan was to limit Glover and make the other players beat them. It also appears that they went at Shawn to get him in foul trouble.

The keys to this games - as it has been all season, are to defend and rebound. Those are two things we can actually control and are substantially a matter of effort. Prevent dribble penetration, deny the ball and get back on defense. Battle hard for every rebound. I am not worried about scoring. Play hard defense and things will take care of themselves.

I have no idea whether we will show up or not....but here's the deal....TheEagleman just finds it hard to believe that ORU will lose to this 11-19 McNeese State team TWICE within 6 weeks....the Cowboys stink (just like their Dallas football counterparts... )......if we are bounced out in the first round then TheEagleman promises to give up beer for the rest of lent.....ORU finds a way to win this one 80-75 and moves on to round two....... :eagles:

I agree with Eagleman, I think ORU finds a way to win this one.

I'm just have a hard time thinking that we'll win the tourney with the inconsistency of this team this year.

ORU needs to get focused for the 2nd half.  Didn't have much of an offensive game plan in the 1st half except for shoot the 3.  When you miss a lot of 3s, the opponent gets a lot of rebounds.  Our defense was pretty decent, but McNeese also missed some shots near the basket that they could easily start making in the 2nd half.

On the bright side, Glover only has 1 foul and in general we are not in any foul trouble.  Plus Kaufman and Wilson got to play some minutes to give Glover and Conley a break.  Will need to assert ourselves offensively in the 2nd half and start pulling away.  If we had played like this against NW St., SHSU, or SFA, we'd be down by at least 15 points.

We look lethargic on offense at times. Really lost our rhythm in the middle of the half when Conley left the game. Our point guards are shooting too much. And we are not guarding the perimeter - allowing dribble penetration.

We have a four point lead that should be higher. Luckily the Cowboys are playing poorly. And Eackles holds the ball for a last second shot and settles for a +30 footer. His coach said something to him as they were leaing the court and it appears Eackles smarted off to him.

McNeese can't throw it in the ocean...only 8 made FGs at the under 16 timeout

We are still settling for the 3 too much.  We haven't played that way all year long.  Some games we hardly even attempt a 3 point shot.

Also, they have gotten the ball to Glover twice in a row down low and he has passed it both times to a covered Drew Wilson who turned the ball over.  A good timeout by Scott Sutton to get the team refocused.

They have been interviewing the SHSU coach during the first part of the 2nd half and he was asked about the team that eventually wins this tournament, what will they have done better than everyone else in order to win?  Kind of a strange question to start with, but his answer...

The team that guards the best, plays the hardest, and takes care of the ball will win the tournament.  Deep thoughts there...

kind of what we've seen all year.  ORU can not put a team away when given the chance.

Need to get Singleton out of there, he has had 2 lazy passes that have resulted in runaways for the other team.  He has to take care of the ball and not telegraph his passes.

DJ must not be right, because Singleton is killing ORU the last couple of minutes.

Another turnover by Singleton.  He is playing pretty good defense, but he needs A LOT of work to be a decent PG on offense.

Huge 3 by Jackson.  I can't believe it was whittled down to a 3 point game.  Yikes!
