Old Titan
Let's get it started: 2014 Southland Tournament Bracket 2014 Southland Tournament Website/Schedule
ORU82
Ok, I backed away from the liquor cabinet and put down the crack bowl, so don't accuse me of either for making the following statement. With this schedule and if we want it bad enough, we can make it to the finals. All three of the opponents pre-final are beatable. We can and should be able to win over McNeese, SHSU and TAMCC. I also realize that this would require back to back to back games. However, let's make a statement on the way out of the Southland. GO EAGLES! Old Titan
I also agree that ORU can make it to the finals, IF they play their best basketball of the season. Must remember that one of ORU's worst losses of the season came at first-round opponent McNeese State, plus quarterfinal foe Sam Houston State eliminated the Golden Eagles in last year's first-round, and semifinal opponent Texas A&M-Corpus Christi swept ORU in the regular season this year. So, would ANY loss along the route really come as that much of a surprise?
theeagleman5
Contrary to ORU82 above....TheEagleman always looks for an excuse to head to the liquor cabinet.....and it's going to take a lot of alcohol consumption for me to pick ORU to go to the finals....could we beat McNeese State?...yes.....could we beat SHSU?...yes....can we beat Texas A&M-CC?....yes....BUT can we beat all 3 within 48 hours.....highly unlikely....especially the way we have played this season.....and as pointed out by OT and others often...our PG play has stunk.....ORU will need HUGE performances this week from Glover, Billbury and a couple of others (Word, Conley, Jackson, Webber?) if we are to advance to the Southland Championship on Saturday...but let's just take it one at a time....McNeese is up first.....TheEagleman has to do more research and film study before making a prediction.....but for now just hoping we can make it to Thursday..... theeagleman5
TheEagleman is setting the over/under for ORU fans in attendence at the McNeese State game at 18.....
titansforever
Alumni/Development office is hosting an alumni-and-friends dinner before the game. We have 23 signed up. If they all go to the game...at least we'll top 18!
theeagleman5
Based on updated Vegas betting info....TheEagleman is raising the over/under for ORU fans at the McNeese game to 24.....
OKC Eagle
I don't think there are 18 total spectators at the Nichols State v. Southeastern game right now.
theeagleman5
SFA defeats NW State 85-78 to move to the final on Saturday night....that's a revenge victory for last years upset.....SHSU has an early 3 point lead on Texas A&M-CC in game two.....that game is pretty much a toss up but TheEagleman expects the Bearkats to win and get the chance to lose to SFA in the finals..... theeagleman5
SHSU 39 Texas A&M-CC 29 at half....The Bearkats picking up where they left off last night.....A final between SFA and SHSU will be interesting to watch.....
theeagleman5
Sam Houston State advances to the final with a 69-62 win....if they play the way they did tonight vs. SFA....well, it's gonna be ugly....The Lumberjacks should advance to the NCAA Tournament by this time tomorrow night.... ORUJason
I think SHSU will give SFA a run for their money. I would not be surprised to see them beat SFA.
