As much as I love Jaci...I have a hard time putting her ahead of Cori Williston. Cori was a heck of a ball player.

Need to see how the final year and a half plays out for Jaci.

So we are talking during Jerry's era as head coach.

Point Guard - Georgia Jones
Shooting Guard - Kevi Luper
Small Forward - Krista Ragan

Power Forward - Kisa Bradley
Center - Elisha Turek

Bench - Jaci Bigham
Bench - Jordon Pyle
Bench - Mariana Camargo

This years team has the most talent and depth of any ORU WBB Team.

I do like Jenny, Leah, and Janae - right behind these. :talk:

As much as I do like this years team, I disagree with your statement.

The team (1999, I think), that almost beat OU in Norman, in the NCAA tourney, was the best team. Krista, Cori, Brady, Dana, etc.

Played toe-to-toe with a Final Four type team, on their home floor, in front of 12,000 and GOT HOSED out of the victory.

I was at that NCAA tournament game in Norman and it was the most obvious example of referees changing the outcome of a game that I have ever seen. Krista got two phantom fouls and fouled out - while their best player (who played very physical) had no fouls. Incredible.

ORU Voice

The tournament team you referred to was the 2000-2001 team. We did not have very high hopes going into the season. The previous year (1999 - 2000) they were only 12-16. Other than the important W-L - the 2000-2001 stats were not very impressive. The one thing the team had was great heart.

The team was made up of Dana Whitaker, Cori Williston, Kristin Brady, Lauryn Morita, Krista Ragan, Christina Kelley, Chelsea Grant,Staci Replogle, Shannon Mims, Sonia N’Dri, Layla Schwartz, Jennette Bolovinos and Shayne McKenzie. It was Cori's first year and she didn't play that much. Cori and my daughters attended VC together. One played with Cori on the golf team - so we loved Cori. The team plague had Cori's name misspelled as "Lori". I wonder if that was fixed. It is still wrong in the year book.

The team was blown out by OU early in the season, but they played OU extremely well as the #15 seed in the tournament. As ORUTerry stated they should have won.

In 2001-2002 the ladies were 13-16. I doubt if any of them, other than Krista would get 15 minutes per game if they were on today's team. The Luper/Bigham era has had 23 wins each year and I expect that will be matched or exceeded this year.

I'm not a big "numbers" guy. And, I fully understand that my "take" could be completely incorrect.

That said, I will stand behind it, going simply from my "eye" test. And, I will disagree about noone on that team getting 15 minutes a game this year. This years team DESPERATELY needs a Dana Whittaker. Would benefit GREATLY from a Kristin Brady and Cori Williston. Even Christina Kelley, Shannon Mims, and Staci Replogle would get SIGNIFICANT post minutes.

I really don't what this to turn into an argument with you. I respect your opinion. Maybe I just have a special place in my heart for those teams, back then...they were tough as nails!!!

I Respect your opinion as well – that is what is fun about this forum. I also love those gals from the past teams. Claudia Lewis, not part of the 2000/2001 team, might have been the toughest one on one defender ORU has ever had.

Just saying - I think Jerry has got the program going in the right direction with recruits. |(

Jerry recruited all those players as well?? It all boils down to wins! If the team wins the players on that team were great, if the team doesn't win, then then players on that team weren't so great!

Agreed. But, would like to see us get a couple Claudia Louis' & Dana Whittaker's, to go along with what we have now!!!

Ultimate starting 5, would be Bigham, Luper, Turek, Bradley and Ragan. Bench players would be, Pyle, Buck, and suprise suprise, the 3 pt specialist Kindle.
