ORU Athletic Dept release

From the Star-Trib:

Quote

Holm, 31, appeared in 53 games between 2008 and 2009 with San Francisco. He spent all of last season with Class AAA Fresno, batting .246 with four homers and 37 RBI in 82 games. He's a .242 hitter over 10 minor league seasons. He was 2-for-8 for Rochester before being promoted.

Butera has a better arm, but Gardenhire said Holm throws well, too.

"He's been in the big leagues with a very good team over there in San Francisco,'' Gardenhire said. "We're excited to have him up here. We'll see how he does, and he will definitely mix time with Drew.''

"For my birthday I got a humidifier and a de-humidifier...I put them in the same room and let them fight it out..." - Stephen Wright

Unfortunately, Steve was optioned back to Rochester after the game on Wednesday of this past week and was replaced by another catcher from Rochester. Steve went 2 for 17 during his time in Minneapolis. It seems that there is really no catcher that is performing well for the Twins besides Mauer.

Yeah, Butera hit .111 and Holm hit .118. So Ron Gardenhire sent him back to minors so that he could catch every day so that he could "work on some things." Sounds to me like Ron wants Holm's defense to improve. If Holm could have just hit a little better he might still be up there. Also, he did not get a 50/50 chance. He only played in about 1/3 of the games while he was up there.
