His team had the ball at the end off a missed free throw by the other team but couldn't get the ball to Larry who was open down low or to Davin White who had already scored 32 points. Another player shot and missed but it was just after the buzzer sounded. That is a tough way to lose. The 2nd place team went home with nothing. Larry's winning share would have been about $82,000. He's just as quick as ever on defense, but appeared this weekend to have lost some of his verticality. He blew a finger-roll lay-up over a defender on a breakaway that 10 years ago he would have dunked easily. He may have had dead legs; not sure he ever left the floor Saturday or today. Both teams left it all out on the floor today. It's amazing how hard guys will play when winning or losing is the difference between getting paid or not. The nature of team sports, where great players can be mired on otherwise bad teams, necessitates the need for contracts that reward individual performance outside of the team's success (or lack thereof).
