ORUalum
Orlando Vance (6'9/F/2015) from Clark College (WA) has committed to Oral Roberts— Brad Winton (@JucoRecruiting) June 11, 2015 BIO STATS
Old Titan
https://youtu.be/JqOHU_SOGao] Not a scorer: 8 points a game, 45% shooting (with NO 3-point attempts) is not good for an interior player, 65% free throw shooting is not great either, but he did lead his team in rebounding, he doesn't appear to get in a lot of foul trouble, and he had a LOT of blocked shots. I imagine he would fill a Dennell Henderson-type role: post up, look for the dish pass coming off penetration from the guards, get to the rim as much as he can, defend the paint/rebound/block shots on the other end. But probably not a "first-look" option on offense the way AJ Owens will be. Wondering how a Portland native playing at a Washington juco got on ORU's radar in the first place. Bottom line: he's not a guard, which on this roster is a revelation. Hope he can play!
ORUTerry
He played a year at Eastern Arizona JC. He is listed at 6'9" - which as OT stated is something (size) that we need on this squad. His stats show that he grabbed a season high 14 rebounds in the NWAC championship game (Clark College won) and was named to the all-tournament team.
brandon_howard
What was the name of the guy that played in the early 2000s for one year that blocked a ton of shots and was good on the boards/D...? I would love to see us have another one of those kind of junkyard dog types.
ORUJason
Shawn King? Kevin Scruggs?
ORUTex
Kendrick Moore.
ORUalum
King, Moore, or Scruggs would be great. it would be a steal to get that type player this late in the game. i'm expecting more like a Schuyler Thomas -- a serviceable D1 post player......gets you some rebounds, block a shot or two and get the occasional put back. Old Titan
saw on his twitter that Vance broke his foot a few days ago. Wow, that hurts: him obviously, and ORU's prospects this season. Never good when a big man breaks his foot - they take forever to heal, and players often come back too early and re-injure them. Ain't that right, Kevin Durant? theeagleman5
...and Joel Embiid.....
Old Titan
Or, worst-case scenario from recent times: Yao Ming. But, let's think positive! Ken Tutt broke a bone in his foot his sophomore year, and he came back just fine...
tmh8286
Blake Moses limped up and down the court for a season before any of us knew he broke his foot. Couldn't figure out his poor effort that season.
