UALR mid-week

ORU rips 12 hits and takes advantage of erratic Trojan pitching that led to 16 walks (yes, you read that correctly) to post a 15-2 win over UALR tonight in Little Rock, called after seven innings.  Anthony Sequeira with the first ORU grand salami of the season in the first inning, after the Eagles loaded the bases via three walks.  ORU pitching recorded 7Ks, with only one walk.

Frankly, this must've been painful to watch.  Over the course of the game, ORU's three pitchers threw 98 pitches, 71 for strikes.  UALR used five pitchers, only one of which threw more strikes than balls.  Trojan pitching threw 223 pitches (are you kidding me???), 108 for strikes.  Wow...   Big series this weekend with league-leading Omaha!

UALR is likely still reeling from the aftermath of psycho head coach Scott Norwood, who "resigned" last June after this fiasco (WARNING:  audio not safe for workplace):

The bats have really come alive - and paired with decent pitching, this club is playing well. Let's hope their confidence and hot bats continue into the series against Omaha this weekend.

HUGE early season series this weekend at JLJ vs. Omaha....ORU really needs to get 2 of 3 if we expect to contend for the #1 seed in the Summit Tournament in May..... :nerd:

Eagleman, while 2 of 3 over Omaha would certainly be advantageous, the Mavericks are still in the D1 transitional phase, and will not be eligible for the NCAA tourney or the Summit tourney this year. Therefore, we're not competing with Omaha for the #1 seed.

AH.....didn't know that....would be kind of embarrassing to have a non d-1 team win the Summit regular season...lol....but I guess it could happen....Sounds like ORU has the fast track to the #1 seed if we continue this pace....but the games this weekend do count in the Summit standings???.... :nerd:
